Cotrone Finished with the Jaguars

The Jaguars placed fullback Anthony Cotrone on the waived/injured list following his knee injury during the Jaguars Friday night scrimmage. The former University of Maine fullback will now receive an injury settlement from the team.

Although Cotrone was something of a longshot to make the Jaguars final roster, as they have Greg Jones and Montell Owens performing well, he was performing great in camp and had a legitimate shot at the practice squad at the very least. If there is a silver lining for Cotrone, it's that he will earn more money from the injury settlement than he could've as a practice squad player, and he may have another chance with the team next season.

With Cotrone dropping off the roster, the Jaguars signed semi-fan favorite tight end Issac Smolko. Smolko made an impression with Jaguars fans last preseason when he starred on special teams, at tight end, and even played some linebacker in the teams' preseason finale. Smoko earned a spot on the Jaguars practice squad last season and was promoted to the active roster twice, and played in both playoff games. The 25 year-old Smolko offers a large 6'5", 260 lb. target with soft hands.
