Overall special teams grade: A
Josh Scobee- 11/12 FG's, 13/13 XPT's, 6 touchbacks
Josh Scobee has transformed himself from a kicker with a good leg to one of the best kickers in the NFL. Scobee has been accurate and absolute money when the game is on the line. His long kickoff leg has helped the Jaguars have the league's best kickoff coverage team.
Adam Podlesh- 44.1 gross average, 35.5 net average, 7 kicks inside the 20.
Adam Podlesh has improved from his rookie season, but he still doesn't seem to be a great weapon in the field position game. It could be the Jaguars directional punting philosophy, but Podlesh routinely lacks hang time on his punts, which makes it difficult for the Jaguars coverage teams to do their job.
Brian Witherspoon- 12.0 ypr., long of 29 yards
Brian Witherspoon has handled the job of kickoff and punt returner very smoothly. He has world class speed and it's just a matter of time before he breaks one for a touchdown.
Brian Witherspoon- 28.6 ypr., long of 51 yards
Witherspoon has great field vision and blinding speed and he is one of the top return men in the entire NFL.
18.6 ypr. allowed- 1st in NFL
The Jaguars kickoff coverage team allows the fewest yards per return in the NFL. Need we say more?
9.9 ypr. allowed- 19th in the NFL
The Jaguars punt coverage team would be better if they had more hang time to work with from their punter.
