Well, the Jaguars aren't the only ones, as it seems that nearly every team is trying to move out of the top 10 right now. The problem is that the disparity in talent from around pick 5 to pick 25 is about the same. There is no real "bell cow" in this draft.
Despite the plethora of teams, well all 10, who are looking to move back in the NFL draft, there are only a few plausible trade scenarios that could interest the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It's possible the Denver Broncos could package one of their 1st round picks to move up to the number 8 spot if either Mark Sanchez or B.J. Raji makes it to the Jaguars. This would give the Jaguars pick 12 in the first round along with some later compensation.
Possible Selections at 12: Rey Maualuga, LB, USC; Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland; Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss; Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State; Josh Freeman, QB, KSU, Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss.
The Washington Redskins are reportedly enamored with USC quarterback Mark Sanchez and is willing to move up to grab him. The only problem? Washington is traditionally bad with keep draft picks and tend to throw them away... good for Jacksonville, right? The Redskins lack a 2nd round pick, as they traded it to Miami last season for defensive end Jason Taylor, now a free agent. It's plausible the Jaguars could swindle Washington enough to give up the 13th overall pick to leapfrog both San Francisco and Denver, and give up their 2010 1st round draft pick.
Possible Selections at 13: Malcom Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.; Jeremy Maclin, WR, Mizzou; Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss; Brian Cushing, LB, USC; Rey Maualuga, LB, USC; Tyson Jackson, DE/DT, LSU.
The New York Jets are another team rumored to have heavy interest in USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, and supposedly have already spoken to Jacksonville about possible making a draft day trade. The rumored deal would be pick 8 to the Jets for pick 17, pick 52, and pick 193. This deal would give the Jaguars 2- 2nd round picks.
Possible Selections at 17: Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss; Brian Cushing, LB, USC; Tyson Jackson, DE/DT, LSU; Rey Maualuga, LB, USC; Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland; Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss; Evander "Ziggy" Hood, DT, Missouri; Josh Freeman, QB, KSU.
The Philadelphia Eagles were a certain player to move up in the draft as they had both the 21st and 28th picks in the draft, but they decided to trade the 28th overall pick to Buffalo for Jason Peters. Still, the Eagles may want to trade into the top ten to select either Jeremy Maclin or Michael Crabtree. The Jaguars would receive the Eagles 21st pick as well as some second-round compensation.
Possible Selections at 21: Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss; Brian Cushing, LB, USC; Tyson Jackson, DE/DT, LSU; Rey Maualuga, LB, USC; Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland; Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss; Evander "Ziggy" Hood, DT, Missouri; Josh Freeman, QB, KSU; Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois; Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest.
