Jaguars Draft Cheat Sheet - Defense

As you are already aware, JagNation is the worldwide leader in original, unbiased Jacksonville Jaguars content. Our staff has worked diligently over the past four months putting together information on nearly every player that the Jaguars have shown a certain level of interest in. We are going to share our knowledge with you, our loyal subscribers. We are once again naming names, all of the names.

We're now moving on to the defensive prospects that the Jaguars have examined. The Jaguars have a need at pretty much every level of their defense, and we've found that several of the prospects they've interviewed seem to fit better in 3-4 schemes. Take that for what its worth.

The team spent the entire first day of last year's draft on the defensive end position. Don't be surprised if they go with the same position early on in this year's draft. Some of the prospects that they've shown interest in are Brian Orakpo, Everette Brown, Phillip Hunt, Larry English, Connor Barwin, Jeremy Navarre, Rulon Davis, Anthony Davis, Tremaine Johnson, Khalif Mitchell, and Ventrell Jenkins.

Regardless of what defense the team employs, they will have to add more talent at the defensive tackle position. Some of the players they have looked at are B.J. Raji, Ron Brace, Clinton McDonald, Antoine Holmes, Roy Miller, Peria Jerry, Fili Moala, Ryan Baker, Myron Pryor, Tonga Tea, Vance Walker, and Corey Irvin.

The Jaguars need to acquire more linebacker talent, as there are as many questions as answers with the current group. Some of the players who could remedy the situation are Aaron Curry, Rey Maualuga, Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing, Russell Allen, Jason Williams, Darry Beckwith, Ashlee Palmer, Nic Harris, Gerald McGrath, Tyrone McKenzie, Julius Williams, Jeremy Nethon, Anthony Heygood, Stanley Arnoux, James Laurinaitis, Trey Covington, and Scott McKillop.

Although Rashean Mathis had a very solid year at corner, the Jaguars would like to find a player to start opposite him. Some of those candidates are Malcolm Jenkins, Alphonso Smith, Vontae Davis, Joe Burnett, Ellis Lankster, Vince Anderson, Don Carey, Jason McCourty, Gregory Toler, Deangelo Willingham, Ryan Mouton, Donald Washington, Derek Cox, Peter Ittersagen, Greg Toler, and DeAngelo Willingham.

The Jaguars appear to have a gaping hole at safety, as Sean Considine would be penciled in as a starter if the season were to begin now. Some players who could supplant Considine are Louis Delmas, Patrick Chung, William Moore, Rashad Johnson, Otis Wiley, Chip Vaughn, Dahna Deleston, Marcus McClinton, Quinton Moore, Lendy Holmes, and Ricky Price.

The Jaguars also have shown interest in punter Kevin Huber and punter/kicker Graham Gano.
