Jaguars Free Agent Analysis: Brock Bolen

During the draft process, the Jaguars had several fullbacks in for visits, including Tony Fiammetta, Quinn Johnson, Will Ta'ufo'ou, and Jason Cook, among others. The one fullback that the team managed to sign as a free agent following the draft was Louisville's Brock Bolen. Here's what you need to know about him.

Measureables:

Brock Bolen stands 6'0" tall and weighs 238 lbs. He turned 24 years old in March and played three seasons at the University of Louisville after transferring from Illinois and sitting out the 2005 season. As a senior, Bolen rushed for 508 yards on 124 carries, and scored seven touchdowns.

Scouting Report:

High motor-type running back. Good size, decent speed, hits the hole hard and is tough to bring down. Good all-around back who can get the tough yards up the middle and catch the ball out of the backfield.

Chances of making the roster:

It's not impossible, but it's also not likely. Bolen must potentially beat out special teams ace Montell Owens, as well as Chauncey Washington, and impressive rookie Rashad Jennings. The good news is that the Jaguars have been looking for a true fullback type of guy, and Bolen could be that guy.

Our guess:

Barring any unforeseen injuries to anyone in the Jaguars running back stable, we see Bolen as a practice squad guy in 2009.
