Jaguars UDFA Report - Russell Allen

With the possibility of Justin Durant being moved to inside linebacker, the Jags brought in some guys to try and add depth to the weakside and strongsides of the linebacker crew. One of the guys they came to terms with is San Diego State's Russell Allen.

The Measurables:

At 6'3" and 235 lbs, Allen has the size to play the weakside and be a contributor on special teams. He just recently turned 23 on May 5th. In his junior and senior seasons, Allen tallied 225 tackles, three sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Scouting Report:

Very athletic...Good height with the frame to get bigger...Great timed speed...Reliable tackler...Nice range...Good pass rusher and blitzer...A terrific motor...Special teams ability...Lots of experience...Productive.

Chances of making the roster:

Probable. With the departure of Mike Peterson and Justin Durant possibly moving inside, the Jags need depth on the outside. Could also eventually be a good pick up for his motor on special teams.

Our guess:

A solid addition and special team contributor.
