Northcutt Headed to Motown for Alexander

According to John Clayton of, the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to a deal with the Detroit Lions which would send veteran receiver Dennis Northcutt to Detroit in exchange for Lions safety Gerald Alexander.

Northcutt was a victim of a youth movement in Jacksonville, as the 31-year old receiver was told he would be either deal or released earlier in the week. The Jaguars decided to go young after their OTA sessions were completed and they apparently liked the progress that their young trio of receivers in Mike Thomas, Jarett Dillard, and Tiquan Underwood have shown.

Alexander is a 6'2", 204 lb. safety entering his third season from Boise State. As a rookie, Alexander started all 16 games and recorded 81 tackles, defended six passes, and grabbed two interceptions. Alexander missed 11 games with injury last season and had just seven tackles.

JagNation will provide a full scouting report on Alexander.
