Jags Scouts Hit the Road

The Jacksonville Jaguars scouting department is racking up the frequent flyer miles as they've headed all over the country perusing collegiate talent.

These are certainly tough economic times and airplane travel can certainly be a hassle. With that in mind, the Jaguars are staying within driving distance as they will be scouting Saturday afternoon's South Florida-Florida State matchup.

The top prospect from USF is defensive end George Selvie, who is an excellent pass rusher. Selvie is a little light to be an every downs 4-3 defensive end, but he'd fit perfectly in the stand up linebacker role in a 3-4, a defense that the Jaguars are in the process of switching to.

The Jaguars will likely be looking to draft a quarterback early, and this game features a possible early-round signal caller in FSU redshirt junior Christian Ponder. Ponder has a professional arm, and he's mobile in and out of the pocket. With near perfect mechanics, Ponder is rising up draft boards, assuming he decides to come out next April.

Another stop that the Jaguars scouts will be making will be in the greater Chicago area, to take in the Minnesota-Northwestern game.
