First Round- Jaguars trade up to pick #3 and draft Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen.
Tampa Bay saw it fit to trade back as they wanted some line help and both Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy were taken with the first two picks. The Jaguars gave up their 2011 first-round pick to get their franchise quarterback. Clausen can be a true franchise quarterback and by trading up to get him, the Jaguars don't have to play the wait and see game with teams that could select quarterbacks such as Washington, Seattle, Cleveland, Buffalo and possibly Denver.
Third Round- Baylor center J.D. Walton
A center is far from a sexy pick, but the team now has a sizable investment in the quarterback position and they must protect him. Walton will allow the Jaguars to move on from Brad Meester and along with Eugene Monroe, Eben Britton and Uche Nwaneri, the team will have a solid young corps on the offensive line.
Fourth Round- South Carolina outside linebacker Eric Norwood
Norwood is a play-maker who wasn't supposed to be around in round four, but he was and the Jaguars pounced. Norwood can start day one and be a suitable replacement for Clint Ingram.
Fifth Round- Virginia Tech safety Kam Chancellor
There are some questions whether or not Chancellor can remain at safety or move to linebacker, as there haven't been many 6'4", 230 lb safeties. Still, Chancellor is a physical player with a nose for the football and he could compete for a starting position right away.
Sixth Round- Torell Troupe, defensive tackle UCF
Troupe could drop due to playing in the Conference USA, but it would be to the Jaguars advantage to snatch the local product. The former UCF star can play as a straight-up 4-3 defensive tackle or he can play outside as a 3-4 defensive end. Troup could immediately step in and contribute in the rotation up front.
