The Jags plan on placing a tag on Donovin Darius
According to a league source late Wednesday evening, the Jaguars are planning on placing a tag on safety Donovin Darius.
The organization is split as to whether they place the franchise or transition tag, but indications are that the team may transition tag, which would pay him the average of the top 10 players at his position and ensure that the Jags would have the opportunity to match any offer he would receive.
If the franchise tag is extended to the 6-foot-1 and 215 fifth-year veteran out of Syracuse, a team would have to give up two first-round picks to sign him. His pay would be the average of the top five players at his position which would be approximately $3 million dollars.
Last season, Darius was third on the team with tackles (69) 58 solo and one sack.
