Jags' News and Notes

Check out the Jags Insider's latest addition of news and notes, including the latest from the Indy combine where the Jaguars interviewed several prospects.

Free agency market full of talented linebackers

Jags' head coach Jack Del Rio has made upgrading the linebacker core with speed, especially the middle linebacker spot in particular one of his priorities this off-season. In the unrestricted free agency market, it appears to be a rather strong year for linebackers. Look for the Jaguars to possibly fill their linebacker needs through that market. Some of the linebackers that are available are Roosevelt Colvin of Chicago, Mike Peterson of Indianapolis, Hugh Douglas, Shelton Quarles of Tampa Bay, Chris Claiborne of Detroit, Cornell Brown of Baltimore, and Takeo Spikes (transition tag) of Cincinnati, Mike Maslowski of Kansas City, Ronald McKinnon of Arizona and Chris Draft of Atlanta.

Stock going through the roof

Andre Johnson, an underclassman out of Miami, has seen his stock go through the roof. The athletic receiver with sub 4.4 40-yard dash speed checked in at the Indy combine in at a comfortable 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds.

Johnson will be working out at his school's pro day and not at the combine.

Jags looking at tight end from Florida?

Florida's tight end Aaron Walker checked in at the combine at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds. He also bench-pressed 225 pounds 24 times.

The Jaguars were one several teams interviewing him.

Jags interviewed Maryland linebacker

Maryland middle linebacker E. J. Henderson checked in at the combine at 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds.

He will not run at the combine but will do so at his pro day on 3/19. Henderson hopes to run at least a 4.6 40-yard dash. He had a 30' vertical jump.

Henderson has interviewed with the Eagles, Browns, Bengal's, Jets, Giants, Saints, and Jaguars.
