WR signs with the Jags
With Patrick Johnson signing a deal with Washington today, the Jaguars were not slow to fill the void left at the wide receiver position.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed former New England Patriot and Carolina Panther wide receiver Donald Hayes to a one-year contract. The terms of the contract weren't disclosed.
The 6-foot-4 and 218 pound wide–out was a major disappointment in his only season with the Patriots, and was cut by the team because he refused to take a pay cut. He caught only 12 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns last season.
The five-year pro out of Wisconsin was more productive in his previous two seasons with Carolina. In 2001, he led the Panther with 57 receptions 579 yards. In the 200o season he had career highs with receptions 66 and 926 receiving yards with three touchdowns.
