Jags still in talks with DE's agent
The Jaguars management is in the continuous process of pursuing free agents that will help upgrade the team in order to bring back the winning years of the past. On example of this are the ongoing talks with 49er free agent defensive ends Chike Okeafor's agent.
What is in the latest?
"Yesterday, I spoke with the Jaguars a couple of times," Okeafor's agent Andy Sims said. "We made some progress but I can't say we're close to having him sign anywhere today. There's a possibility that the Jaguars and I will talk again today."
Sims told the Jags Insider that Jacksonville is certainly in the picture.
"Jacksonville is one of the teams that we have narrowed it down to," Sims said. "The 49'rs are still in the picture and Chike will be making a visit with Denver today."
The five-year pro out of Purdue has also visited Detroit, Arizona and Kansas City.
Sims has indicated that there's no timetable for a deal but that he would like to see his client sign somewhere soon.
"The time frame has accelerated and we're hopeful that Chike can sign somewhere by the end of the week," he said.
Last season with the 49ers, the 6-foot-4 and 254 pound rush-end recorded six sacks and 26 quarterback pressures.
