Edwards Awaiting Arraignment

Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards could be arrainged for DWI and another charge sometime Tuesday afternoon.

GreenAndWhiteReport.com can confirm that Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards could possibly be arraigned in the next several hours, per the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

At 5:15 A.M. on Tuesday morning, Edwards was arrested on charges of drunk driving. Edwards, who had passengers in the car including Jets left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson, was pulled over in the vicinity of 12th and West 24th Street. A New York Police Department source tells GWR that uniformed members of the seventh precinct pulled over the SUV because of "tinted windows."

The police source confirmed that Edwards was the driver of the vehicle and that after the roadside investigation that the "driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated." Edwards was also charged with equipment violation for the tint of his windows.

As of 3:50 P.M, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office told GWR that Edwards had not yet been arraigned.

In a statement released mid-morning on the day of the incident, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said he was disappointed that Edwards did not take advantage of the Player Protect system, a private security firm that is in place to assist players and provide transportation and "security driving."

"We are very disappointed in Braylon's actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation," Tannenbaum said in the statement. "Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment."
