Four Downs: Jets Buffalo The Bills

The 3-1 Jets are undefeated in the AFC East through three games with a dominating road win over Buffalo.

A Sign of Dominance - Mark Sanchez scanned the sidelines until he found his man. The New York Jets' quarterback ran over and exchanged celebratory low-fives and shouts with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Split-seconds earlier, Sanchez and Braylon Edwards conspired to burn Buffalo cornerback Leodis McKelvin on a 41-yard touchdown hookup. The big play score underscored the Jets' dominance in the first half, in which they controlled the ball for 21:10 and outscored the Bills, 17-7.

Flawless Jets - The Jets' first 30 minutes was mostly flawless. Their third quarter was improbably better. The offense ran 15 plays, racked up 127 yards and scored three touchdowns—two TD receptions by tight end Dustin Keller and a breakaway TD run from LaDanian Tomlinson—in 8:26 . Defensively, the Jets forced and recovered a Marshawn Lynch fumble and strong-armed the Bills to punt on their other three possessions in the quarter.

The Feature Back - The Jets' off-season acquisition of Tomlinson was met with raised eyebrows and skepticism. The future Hall-of-Famer appeared to be slow and old in his last two seasons with San Diego . And there were less-than-flattering statements about Tomlinson and his behavior from unnamed dart-throwers in Southern California . All the 31-year old has done is be a veteran leader for a team with grand aspirations. Against what may be the National Football League's worst team, Tomlinson (19 carries for 133 yards) led a rushing attack that totaled 273 yards.

Folk-snore: It is not that coaches are negative people. On the contrary, they are teachers and are always looking for teaching material. For the most part, the Jets did not provide Rex Ryan with much in the way of lesson plans but almost certainly he will point to Nick Folk's missed 30-yard field goal in the first quarter, and the defense allowing Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bills to drive 64 yards in seven plays at the end of the first half for a touchdown.
