Slauson, who has been the Jets left guard since the team traded away All-Pro Alan Faneca in the offseason, has settled in nicely to the position. Slauson was limited on Wednesday to riding the stationary bike and agility drills on a far field. He had a MRI on Tuesday which showed just swelling but no serious damage.
"We know that it's not serious at all," Slauson told GreenAndWhiteReport.com.
The injury happened when Slauson "went down and my knee went into the ground." He's hobbled by the injury but after two days off and then some time on the stationary bicycle on Wednesday, Slauson is optimistic about a speedy return.
He vowed that "I will play on Sunday." Practice on Thursday is on the agenda for Slauson.
"I'll be fine," Slauson said. "I'll be out there tomorrow."
Adding insult to Slauson's injury, however, was backup quarterback Kellen Clemens, whose locker space is a few slots over from Slauson. As the media converged on Slauson for an update, Clemens made sure to get a shot in over the din of the questions.
"Don't worry everybody, his looks will be fine," Clemens said.
Slauson simply looked away for a moment to have a good laugh.
