Four Downs: The Buffalo Win

Four Downs explores the Jets regular season finale, a 38-7 blowout win over the Bills.

1: Ground Em, Pound Em - The Jets re-established the Ground and Pound rushing attack on an afternoon in which LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene were inactive. Joe McKnight, Brad Smith, John Conner, Kellen Clemens, Jerricho Cotchery and Tony Richardson combined for 276 yards on 50 carries.

2: Handing It Off - Mark Sanchez started the Jets' first offensive series. Sanchez handed off eight times in the 11 play drive—all runs. If the Jets' franchise quarterback was not going to throw the football, why was he not amongst the inactives?

3: Cole In Their Stocking - Marquice Cole showed that he could be a contributor to the Jets secondary in dime and nickel packages. Cole and Kyle Wilson started in place of Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Cole picked off Brian Brohm twice, including a 35-yard interception return for touchdown in the second quarter.

4: They're Backed Up - Mark Brunell played the first three quarters and the backup quarterback was passable against Buffalo 's non-existent defense. Brunell hit Santonio Holmes for a 17-yard score in the second quarter and hooked up with Braylon Edwards on a 52-yard third quarter score. Third string quarterback Kellen Clemens had a 10-yard touchdown run in his first action of the season.
