Brad Smith On Playing Sunday

Following a groin injury on Saturday, the Jets playmaker still hasn't practiced this week.

Florham Park, NJ – The groin injury to Jets Mr. Everything Brad Smith may be slowing the player down but doesn't appear likely to sideline the Jets wide receiver, kickoff returner and quarterback of the team's Wildcat package. Smith did not practice on Wednesday, sitting out for a second straight day, but he appears optimistic that he can go against New England on Sunday.

The injury, which Smith suffered in the second half of the Wild Card win over Indianapolis on Saturday, has noticeably changed his normal game preparation and continues to bother him.

"It's probably a little more than sore," Smith said. "I did some light running today, which felt pretty good."

Smith said that the medical staff is pleased with his recovery from the injury to date. He told reporters that he stayed late at the team's practice facility from Saturday into Sunday immediately after their flight from Indianapolis touched down, choosing immediately to get treatment. The plan for Thursday, Smith said, is to increase the intensity of his training and start taking some reps.

As for Sunday, Smith is hopeful.

"If it was up to me, I'd play," Smith said.
