The regular look at the news, notes and quick hits from around the AFC.

While most mock draft's by expert analysts don't have Cam Newton going with the first overall pick to the Carolina Panthers most do have him going in the top 10 to either the Buffalo Bills, at the No. 3 pick, or to Washington Redskins with the tenth overall pick. Where Cam Newton goes is only half the story though. The biggest question is will Cam Newton become an icon like he says he wants to be or will he become just another JaMarcus Russell or Heath Shuler? He surely has the physical makeup of Russell and both won national championships for SEC programs, but can Newton overcome a lackluster combine where his passing skills were suspect to become a top five pick?

Sanders is just the first big name to switch teams in the AFC and he was rumored to have had the Jets as a reported suitor.

Last year football fans could obtain free tickets in advance for the second and third day of the NFL Draft via With the draft taking a bit of a backseat as the league negotiates a new labor deal, there has been no forthcoming news about free tickets for fans.

It appears Tom Zbikowski will partake in boxing again now that there may be an NFL strike. Zbikowski wrote this per his Twitter account, "Yes, the rumors are true, March 12th at the MGM Grand on the Cota/Mayorga undercard on Showtime pay-per-view."
