Jets notebook

The Jets signed linebacker Kenyatta Wright on Thursday.. He was out of football last year after playing for the Bills in 2000 and 2001. He is an excellent special team's player. He also saw decent time at linebacker for the Bills in 2001 . . .

The Jets quietly signed another kick returner this off-season: former CFL standout Raymonn Adams. They allocated the running back to the Amsterdam Admirals. He is the leading rusher for the Admirals and is slated to start returning kicks for the team this weekend . . .

The Jets have brought in 20 players for visits including defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Johnathan Sullivan. Williams is shooting up the draft board after running a 4.8 forty at 300 pounds . . .

The Jets think that defensive end John Abraham and Bryan Thomas, both with sub-4.6 speed, are really going to benefit from the installation of field turf at the Meadowlands . . .

The Jets personnel department had a two-hour meeting about one player in this draft. They would not say who it is . . .

There are 10 players the Jets will consider at 13. They are also considering trading down from the spot and adding extra picks. One thing they will not do is trade both their picks to move up. They do not feel there is a player worth that kind of price tag . . .
Dick Haley is now the Jets scout for the Southeast region, and Jesse Kaye will handle his old job of college scouting director . . .

The Jets feel this is not a good safety draft, so the signing of Tyrone Carter before the draft was a solid move. Remember the Jets are thin at safety with Damien Robinson and Nick Ferguson no longer with the team.
