Jets trade Drew Stanton To Colts

The New York Jets have traded quarterback Drew Stanton to the Indianapolis Colts today, the Jets announced.

Signed to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Jets, the former Detroit Lions quarterback lost his anticipated backup status behind Mark Sanchez when New York acquired Tim Tebow via a trade. Stanton was extremely unhappy with the Tebow move since he had been assured by the Jets that he would be the backup.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder started three games in 2010 for Detroit, passing for four touchdowns and three interceptions for 78.1 quarterback rating.

A former Michigan State standout, Stanton has passed for 1,158 career yards, five touchdowns and nine interceptions.
