Great Scott !

New York Jets inside linebacker Bart Scott is never shy to share his thoughts with the media. In spite of New York's stagnant offense, Scott is convinced that Mark Sanchez and company will find their way.

With the Jets placing an emphasis on better communication this upcoming season, what better a player to lead Gang Green than boisterous and vocal eleventh-year veteran linebacker Bart Scott.

Rex Ryan's right hand man came to training camp 15 pounds trimmer after enduring a rigorous offseason conditioning program aimed to increase his speed and endurance.

With his sights set on returning to the postseason, New York's man in the middle is embracing the Jets' new approach.

"Well we talked about being able to clarify things," expressed Scott. "That was one of our goals – to be one step faster. And to be one step faster, you have to communicate and be on the same page. That's what allows you to play fast. Communicating, knowing where you're going to be and where your teammates are going (to) be."

The expectation level for Scott's defensive unit is sky-high this year, and the madbacker is determined to help his group reach their potential.

"Right now, I'm focused on that we're able to make sure that (the defense) can be the best that we can be," confirmed Scott. Until we pitch a perfect game, I'm trying to make sure that this unit over here (is) doing what we're supposed to do."

While the Jets defense is holding up its end of the bargain, Tony Sparano's offense has sputtered, producing just three field goals through two preseason games. Many Jets' fans have their hands hovering over the panic button, but Scott isn't alarmed by the offense's early struggles.

"We understand that they have a new system and they'll be better and it'll get better, commented Scott on the progress of the offense. But we can't farm their land, we have to worry about our business and make sure that we are where we want to be."
