AFC EAST UPDATE: WEEK 9 EDITION
New York Jets (3-5) Last week: Gang Green's special teams had a punt blocked for a touchdown, had a field goal attempt blocked and gave up an onside kick receiver as the Jets were utterly embarrassed in a 30-9 loss to the Dolphins. Notable note: Led by Mark Sanchez, New York's air attack is completing passes at a league-worst 53.1 yards a clip. New England Patriots (5-3) Last week: Tom Brady led five consecutive scoring drives as the Patriots blew out the St. Louis Rams, 45-7. This week: New England gets a chance to try and shore up its awful pass defense via a bye. Notable note: The Patriots' 130 chain-moving pass completions is a league-high. Miami Dolphins (4-3) Last week: Miami handily defeated the Jets thanks to spectacular special teams and extremely stout defense. This week: Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill has a chance to best fellow first-year signal-caller Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts. Notable note: The Dolphins have a winning record despite a league-worst five passing touchdowns. Buffalo Bills (3-4) Last week: Buffalo was on a much-needed bye. This week: The underachieving Mario Williams has something to prove against his former team as the Bills travel to Houston to face the Texans. Notable note: The Bills' terrible defense is giving up 6 yards a rush and has surrendered 12 rushes of 20 yards or more -- both league-worsts.
