Report: Jets interested in Vick to push Geno

With rookie quarterback Geno Smith failing to solidify his status as the franchise signal-caller, the New York Jets could kick the tires on the electrifying, but often injured Michael Vick. Find out why this would be the wrong move for Gang Green, according to The Jets Beat's Erik Manassy.

Adam Schefter, ESPN's NFL Insider put out a tweet today saying that the New York Jets are one of two teams interested in veteran quarterback Michael Vick.

It's clear that this would be the wrong move for the Jets. It has nothing to do with what he did off the field specifically about the dog-fighting. My issue is that he hasn't been able to put in one full season, except for one in his career (and don't expect it with the Jets) especially with his age.

I also believe that if Michael Vick were to come to the Jets to be the competition for Geno Smith, he would win the job. He's that much better than Geno at this point in his career. My worry as stated above, is that Vick would get the starting gig, and get hurt in the middle of the season. Would Geno be able to pick up where Vick left off without missing a beat? I'm not sure.
