GM Idzik takes a leap of faith with the Jets

Prior to last season, John Idzik spent six seasons as the Vice President of Football Adminstration for the Seattle Seahawks. While his fingerprints helped craft an eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks, Idzik is looking to start a legacy of his own in the Big Apple.

The page has turned to the 2014 NFL offseason after the Seattle Seahawks trounced Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos by a final of 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. Now Jet fans can get back to the matter at hand and that's finding free agents who wants to play for Rex Ryan and seeing what draft need Gang Green will address come May.

But if you wouldn't mind returning to that fantastic evening on Sunday, February 2, we look toward a certain gentleman who after a rookie season as an NFL General Manager for the New York Jets probably gave up a major opportunity to win a ring with the Seahawks.

But maybe John Idzik felt it was time for him to make a move and a new change of scenery that made him take advantage of an opportunity that he felt was going to make him stand out and breakthrough into this life working for an NFL team. As of right now the real work begins to retool the offense and see who he can bring in to make Geno Smith raise his level of play heading into his sophomore season.

But while that has already started to go on, you still think in the back of his head what he might have had at Met Life Stadium. I think he has made the right choice and sometimes you have to make some sacrifices to advance your own career and maybe he could be the guy to bring the Jets back to the promise land sooner, rather than later since the team hasn't been back to the big game since Joe Namath made his famous guarantee for Super Bowl III at the now defunct Orange Bowl in Downtown Miami.
