Jets may look to make moves at cornerback

The Jets announced that they have released cornerback LeQuan Lewis from the practice squad and signed cornerback DaShaun Phillips to take his place.

Lewis was signed to the practice squad on September 29th, after being demoted from the active roster due to poor play.

The Jets also worked out four cornerbacks according to ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini. Former Jet Aaron Berry, as well as corners Malcom Bronson, Jordan Sullen and Rod Sweeting all took part in the tryout.

Berry who was previously with the Browns, played seven games with the Jets during the 2012 season but didn’t any meaningful statistics.

Starting cornerback Darrin Walls suffered an injury to his patellar tendon in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Chargers, so the workout of Berry may indicate that Walls’ injury is worse than the team previously believed.
