Jets place Milliner and Winters on IR

The Jets secondary woes just got a whole lot worse.

According to Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network , cornerback Dee Milliner did suffer a torn Achilles tendon in Sunday’s 31-17 loss to the Broncos, ending his season.

Milliner tore his Achilles while lined up as an edge rusher during a Broncos’ field goal attempt. He only took a few steps then immediately went down in pain and had to be helped off the field.

The 2013 first-round pick has battled the injury bug since suffering a high ankle sprain during training camp. That injury kept Milliner out until week two against the Packers. But his return was short lived as in addition to his bum ankle, Milliner injured his quadriceps in that game.

Milliner made his return to the Jets lineup in week five against the Chargers and was the lone bright spot in a humiliating 31-0 loss.

According to Fox Sports One’s Mike Garafolo , the Jets have signed former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Josh Thomas to the active roster as a replacement for Milliner.

UPDATE:

The Jets officially announced that they have placed Milliner on IR and signed Thomas.

The Jets also announced that they have placed left guard Brian Winters on injured reserve with a torn ACL. The 2013 third-round pick started all six games this season. The Jets claimed offensive lineman Wesley Johnson from the Steelers as a potential replacement for Winters.
