Jets End Losing Streak Stun Steelers

With the Jets coming in with an eight game losing streak and going up against a Steelers team that was red-hot most if not all predicated a Pittsburg win. However, the play of two unsung heroes propelled the Jets to their second win of the season by a score of 20-13, bringing them to 2-8 heading into their bye week.

Jaiquawn Jarrett the safety form Brooklyn New York came up huge for the Jets on Sunday. Jarrett, who got the start over first-round pick Calvin Pryor made a number of plays that contributed to the Jets victory. “I think as a unit as a team we came together we dialed in we stayed focused on doing our jobs and we were able to go out there execute and get the job done,” Jarrett told reporters after the game. Jarrett’s state line for the game was 10 tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery, two quarterback hits, and two interceptions.

“Guys earn it, this is a guy that played extremely well for us, a guy that keeps working he got his shot and did a tremendous job for us,” Rex Ryan said after the game on Jarrett’s play. Creating turnovers was one of the biggest issues for the Jets this season only having three coming into week 10. They had four on Sunday and three of them Jarrett had a part in.

Another unsung hero was T.J. Graham the wide receiver the Jets picked up from Buffalo just a few weeks ago. The Jets didn’t have a deep threat until they brought in Percy Harvin but Graham is the one who reaped the benefits of Michael Vick’s big arm. With the Jets up 3-0 in the first quarter it took just one play to get into the end zone. Vick dropped back on a play action and found Graham down field for the 67-yard touchdown that put the Jets up 10-0 in the first quarter, which would only be the beginning.

Vick had a solid game under center for the Jets on Sunday being very efficient with the football completing 10 passes on 18 attempts and running for another 39 yards. Vick threw his second touchdown of the first quarter to Jace Amaro a 5-yard flick that put the Jets up 17-0. “I was very comfortable with the game plan, we played extremely hard and today was going to be our day,” Vick said after the game.

The Jets won this game with the things they do best defense and running the football. The Jets had 150 yards rushing and held the Steelers to only 36-yards on the ground. The Jets also got stops when they needed to which has been a rarity this season. The stand of the game was in the fourth quarter when the Steelers had 1st and goal at the 1-yard line. The Jets stood the Steelers up and forced a field goal. “Everybody was doing their job today everybody was in the right spot to make a play,” Muhammad Wilkerson said after the game.

The Jets showed that they are not as bad as their record says they are. The Jets showed if they could hold on to the football they can beat anyone in this league. Rex Ryan is just happy to get a win since this is his first since week one. “When you win the food tastes better, your girlfriend looks pretty and the beer is colder,” Ryan said to reporters.

The Jets will now go into their bye before heading up to Buffalo in two weeks. The Jets and their fans get a much-needed week off from football and have two weeks to prepare for Buffalo. When a reporter asked Ryan about how he will prepare for Buffalo Ryan had this to say, “I don’t think we are going to Dave and Busters if that’s what you mean.” Ryan is clearly excited about the win but his focus is still on Buffalo. Ryan told reporters the Jets would have a couple of practices this week just to stay fresh. Under Ryan the Jets have been a team that notoriously has come of the bye with a bad performance so he wants to make sure that doesn’t happen in two weeks.
