Jets likely to fire Rex Ryan and John Idzik

As the Jets close out a dismal season, all indications are that head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik will be fired come Black Monday.

According to Dom Cosentino of NJ.com , Ryan got word that Charley Casserly who the Jets are prepared to hire as a consultant if they fire Ryan, has began reaching out to potential replacements for Ryan.

Ryan has also apparently cleaned out his office at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center -- the Jets practice facility in preparation for Black Monday.

There is also a high probability that general manager Idzik will be fired on Monday.

According to Kristian Dyer of Metro New York, Jets owner Woody Johnson is leaning towards firing both Ryan and Idzik but no decision has been made.

News and Notes

There is still a game to play on Sunday and the Jets have placed safety Rontez Miles on injured reserve and called up practice squad wide receiver Quincy Enunwa to the active roster.

UPDATE:

According to ESPN NFL insider Chris Mortensen, Johnson is expected to fire Idzik but he might let a new GM decide Ryan’s fate.

Mortensen also adds that Johnson is considering making changes in the personnel department.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Jets would like to interview Vikings assistant GM George Paton, Saints director of player personnel Ryan Pace, Trent Kirchner, the Seattle Seahawks director of pro personnel and Will McClay, the assistant director of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys in the event they fire Idzik.
