Jets to Bring In Two More For Interviews

With the divisional round of the playoffs now over the Jets are taking full advantage of who they can bring in to interview for their head coaching vacancy. With more and more teams headed home the Jets will do their homework to find the right coach.

It has been reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that the Jets will bring back Todd Bowles for a second interview sometime this week. Bowles is considered to be the Jets second choice behind Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Bowles who is the Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator has been a hot coaching candidate and will also have his second interview with the Atlanta Falcons this week.

It will be interesting to see where Bowels interviews first because with Rex Ryan going to Buffalo teams are now ready to pull the trigger on hiring a new coach. If Bowels goes to Atlanta first he might not leave, as the Falcons know he could slip away. However, it is pretty clear, and from what JetsInsider is hearing, it’s that the Jets want Dan Quinn as their next head coach and are willing to wait for him.

Also coming in for an interview on Wednesday is Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported that this morning. This is a little bit out of left field as McDermott wasn’t really a guy who people had targeted as a potential fit with the Jets. However you have to applaud the Jets because they are turning over every stone to make sure they find the right guy for them. McDermott who is the protégé of long time defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is a good candidate for the job and he has taken that Panthers defense to top ten in the league.

What JetsInsider is hearing and from people around the league believe, it looks like the Jets want Quinn bad but might have to wait until after the Super Bowl to get him, if Seattle makes it that far. However the Jets are keeping all of their options open as they have interviewed a number of candidates and will continue to look into every possible situation before making their final decision.
