The Jets continue to build more depth and competition on the offensive line as they have re-signed offensive tackle Ben Ijalana.

Ijalana was drafted, out of Villanova, by the Indianapolis Colts in the second-round of the 2011 draft and played in limited duty for the Colts in four games before being played on Injured Reserve with a season-ending knee injury. In 2012 Ijalana suffered another injury and was placed on Injured Reserve in August before the season even started.

Right before the 2013 season was to begin Ijalana was released by the Colts during final cuts which led to the Jets claiming him off of waivers. Ijalana never made the gameday active roster in 2013 or with the Jets and didn’t make the active roster until the last eight games of 2014 where he only played a handful of plays.

The old Jets regime of John Idzik and Rex Ryan liked the potential that they saw in Ijalana and

clearly the new regime thought enough of him to bring him back and give him a chance to earn a roster spot in camp.
