Second-year tight end, Jace Amaro, left today’s practice after appearing to tweak his back as he was extending for a catch. Amaro walked off of the field under his own powers but went into the locker room and didn’t return to practice.

FLORHAM PARK, NJ - Today started just like any other practice day for Jace Amaro but early in the practice the second-year tight end was in the middle of running a route when he extended his arms to try and catch a pass and apparently tweaked some muscles in his back.

The injury doesn’t appear to be serious, after practice Todd Bowles would only say Amaro was “sore” and he’d have to find out more later in the day. Amaro didn’t return to practice after being injured and wasn’t in the locker room when reporters were in there so we will have to wait on any type of update.

With the voluntary portion of OTAs ending tomorrow the Jets have a three day minicamp (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) next week before enjoying almost a month and a half off before training camp begins. We will likely hear an update on Amaro before next week’s mandatory minicamp but considering the trickiness of dealing with back muscles Amaro might have to wait until training camp to get back on the field.
