FLORHAM PARK: After Ryan Fitzpatrick tore ligaments in his thumb in the Jets loss Sunday to the Oakland Raiders, there were three big questions the quarterback needed to answer before he returned to the field.
While the injury will likely require surgery come season's end, Fitzpatrick could play again in 2015 if he A: Could handle the pain, B: Could take snaps from under center and C: Could hand-off with the injured hand.
During the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, the veteran signal caller took the first steps in answering all of the above. He wore a protective glove on his left hand, and during positional drills, took snaps under center and practiced handing off with his injured, non-throwing hand.

While Bowles will address the media after practice and provide an official injury report, it didn't appear as if safety Calvin Pryor (ankle), receiver Brandon Marshall (ankle/toe), receiver Devin Smith (ankle), guard Willie Colon (knee) or center Nick Mangold (neck) were practicing. As the Jets began team drills, all were on the side.
