Jets lose LB Brown/Bollinger looks good in scrimma

Rookie free agent linebacker Mark Brown pulled his left hamstring in the scrimmage Saturday afternoon. It looks like he could be out a while. He said he heard it pop. Brown was one of the bright spots of the first week

Quarterback Brooks Bollinger looked very good in the scrimmage. He continues to throw the deep ball better than advertised. Bollinger was the Jets leading passer in the scrimmage (13-18-129 yards - 2 TD's). He had nice pass down field to wideout Jon Carter. Carter also had a dropped pass on a perfect strike from Bollinger. Unfortunately for Carter that has been his history. He is very inconsistent . . .

Wide receiver Phil McGeoghan had a diving catch in the scrimmage. He continues to impress . . .

Running back Ian Smart had a long kickoff return. Albert Johnson also had a long return. It looks like Johnson has his pre-knee injury speed back . . .

Quarterback Vinny Testaverde threw a touchdown pass to tight end Chris Baker, who is having a tremendous camp. It looks like Baker is going to be an integral part of the offense this year. He has very soft hands . . .

Tight end Dallas Neil had a good practice. He had four catches including a touchdown. He seemed to be Bollinger's favorite receiver in the scrimmage. Neil is also a punter, and that is the main reason he was signed for camp - to serve as an extra leg so the team doesn't wear-out Dan Stryzinski. However the Montana product looks like a pretty good tight end . . .

The Jets receiving corps just wrapped up an excellent week of practice. The team is going to have some very tough decision for the final few spots. "The receiving corps, we're just clicking," said wideout Santana Moss. "We are making play after play." . . .
