Former first round pick of the Chicago Bears Shea McClellin will visit the Jets today according to multiple sources.
The 26 year old was the 19th overall pick by the Bears in 2012 out of Boise State. Last season he had 81 tackles and a forced fumble. McClellin optioned out of the fifth year of his rookie contract and decided to become a free agent this off-season.
The Jets are looking for a replacement and upgrade over Demario Davis who is a free agent as well. Whether McClellin is an upgrade over Davis is debatable. While he has consistently been a leading tackler on the Bears during his tenure, he's not known as a play maker or game changer.
The Bears are reportedly still interested in re-signing McClellin as well.
