The Jets continue to add players in hopes of finding one that can claim the kick and punt returner job, this time they have agreed to a deal, pending the passing of a physical, with Jeremy Ross.
Ross has played for four teams in his four year career, first for the Packers then the Lions, Ravens and the Raiders last years. Ross is also a receiver but if he's able to make the Jets final 53-man roster he will have to do so as a return man who could serve as a backup receiver in case of injuries.
Ross returned 12 kickoffs for an average of 22.1 yards per return and 14 punts for 7.5 yards per return for the Raiders last season. For his career Ross has returned 66 kickoffs for an average of 25.1 yards and 77 punts for 11.2 yards.
Ross and Dri Archer will battle, likely along with at least one rookie, for the job of kick returner and the Jets hope that they will have found someone who can do the job competently.
