Jets trade to draft South Carolina T Brandon Shell in 5th

The Jets traded their 2017 4th round pick to Washington for their 5th round pick to pick South Carolina T Brandon Shell.

With a big need to add depth to the Jets offensive line, Mike Maccagnan saw an opportunity to grab a big body with potential and traded the team's 2017 4th round pick to the Redskins to acquire their 5th round pick and draft South Carolina T Brandon Shell.

Shell, the great nephew of  Oakland Raiders Hall of Fame tackle and coach Art Shell. Shell, a beast of a man at 6'5"-324 Lbs played both right and left tackle for the Gamecocks and despite his huge size and strength, is a project.

His scouting report says he has long arms and uses them effectively but needs work on his footwork and getting out of his stance more quickly.

With the retirement of D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Shell will be competing right away and could see some playing time this season.
