Christian Hackenberg and Charone Peake have signed their rookie contracts and are now officially employed by the New York Jets. Hackenberg and Peake join Brandon Shell, Juston Burris and Lachlan Edwards as the five rookies to sign their contracts. Only first-round pick Darron Lee and third-round pick Jordan Jenkins remain unsigned.
All the players already got started working for the Jets, diving into their playbooks, being introduced to their new systems and coaches during rookie camp last week and coming up shortly they'll get a chance to work with their veteran teammates and start getting ready to try and help the Jets win football games.
Thanks to the new CBA rookie contracts are easy deals to strike, players get paid based on a sliding scale determined by where they were drafted with very little wiggle room for agents to negotiate. So, don't worry Jets fans Lee and Jenkins will be signed in plenty of time to contribute.
