Could another QB option be emerging if Fitz does not sign?

Another veteran QB option just hit the market. Could the Jets have an interest?

As we hit mid May, the Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick are still at an impasse with little news on progress emerging lately.

With no viable veterans still on the market, the team at this point is stuck with veteran Geno Smith, sophomore Bryce Petty and the newly drafted, highly debated rookie, Christian Hackenberg. No Jets fan that we have spoken to feel warm and fuzzy with this depth chart. A few other options such as Brian Hoyer and RG III were on the market but have since signed with respective clubs.

Today the Titans released 2 year veteran Zach Mettenberger who started 10 games over the past two seasons for the Tennessee. Although the former 6th round pick from LSU won no games during any of his starts he was on an awful team. Despite his lack of success he showed poise, a big arm and completed 60% of his passes. With some tutelage from Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, Mettenberger could have the raw skills to take his game up a notch. He also has starting experience in the NFL which is valuable Whether the Jets would be interested is yet to be see but a source close to the team told us today that the team brass will definitely do their due diligence on the QB and he could be brought in for a look as soon as this week.

Stay tuned on this as we hear more.
