Jets will not reverse the $50 waiting list charge

It's still remains to be seen if Raymonn Adams is an NFL quality running back, but one thing you can't question is his speed. The NFL Europe product had a kick return in the morning practice where he flashed world class speed running down the sidelines. He might be the fastest player on the team. And he's not just a track athlete (he was an excellent hurdler in high school and college) playing football like Renaldo Nehemiah, he is very aggressive and not afraid to take a hit.<p>

"He's a tough guy," said Herman Edwards. "He's a guy in the next couple of weeks we want to take a look at."

Adams looks like a strong candidate for the practice squad . . .

The Jets brought in guard Isaac Herring for a tryout on Wednesday, and then signed him. He is a BYU product who was was in Oakland Raider camp briefly. The team is obviously concerned with their backup offensive line situation after the beating Brooks Bollinger took the last two weeks . . .

Longshot wide receiver Carlos Rosado has some kind of shoulder injury. The Mexican receiver who played in NFL Europe had a large wrap on his right shoulder . . .

Tom Nutten is still being bothered by a hyper-extended elbow. He walks around with a heavy wrap on his elbow. This injury has turned into a nightmare for Nutten. While rehabbing it, he might have lost his starting right guard position to Brent Smith. Entering camp, Nutten, a former Ram and Bill, was favorite to win this job . . .

Don't think for one second the Jets wanted Dewayne Robertson to start from the get-go, and the players know this. Today, Shaun Ellis was asked about what the loss of Josh Evans did to the team and he said, "That was a big loss because it forced Dewayne to be an immediate starter."

When asked what he likes about Robertson, Ellis said, "He's nasty." . . .

Ellis was taken out of the afternoon practice on Tuesday due to dizziness and headaches. He feels it stemmed from not eating breakfast. Ellis was one of a number of Jets who needed IV after that practice. Other players included Adams and rookie guard Dave Yovanovits . . .

Curtis Martin is going to get his first carries of the preseason. He didn't play in Tokyo and acted as a decoy against Cincinnati.

"Curtis is actually going to touch the ball," said Herman Edwards.

Jets offensive coordinator Paul Hackett, just like Edwards, has no interest in risking injury to the team's franchise player in meaningless preseason games.

"Every single day we practice, he is the best player on the field," said Hackett. "We will have him ready for the opener . . .

One factor that should help Doug Brien this season is that he loves kicking on field turf . . .

Herman Edwards mentioned today that Vinny Testaverde needs 400 yards for 40,000 yards in his career. Edwards mentioned he might want to get him in some games this year to get the needed yards. This will definitely easier said than done.

Remember Edwards wanted to get Chad Pennington some action before he became a starter, but it was tough to execute . . .

Jonathan Carter will miss the New Orleans game with a right knee injury. Jamie Henderson didn't practice on Wednesday due to a knee injury, and is questionable for the game . . .

The Jets are not going to reverse their decision to charge a $50 yearly fee to people on their mailing list.
