Marshall recently appeared on actor Michael Rapaport's podcast "I am Rapaport" and said that he has been texting the holdout QB but has not heard back which is odd because he usually texts him back immediately.
"I don’t know what’s going on," said Marshall. "To be honest, me and Fitz talk every day, all the time, but I texted him the last two weeks three times and there’s no response. The only thing that he can do to make this right is to say he was on vacation, I was out of the country. It’s not like him. It’s scaring me right now. It’s scaring me that my guy hasn’t texted me back."
This is in the wake of the Jets' and Fitzpatrick's stare down for a new contract as the start of training camp looms next week. All reports have indicated that no progress has been made. The only encouraging sign is that the Jets signed franchise player DE Muhammad Wilkerson last week to a long term extension which freed up some cap space to help sign Fitzpatrick if a deal could be made. Also, with camp starting and all teams seemingly set with their rosters the Jets are undoubtedly the best fit for Fitzpatrick and most likely an offer from any other team at this point would be a veteran minimum deal with incentives.
