This is very unfair to Phil McGeoghan. What does the guy have to do, walk on water? He is having an excellent camp. The reason he hasn't been able to do much in the games is third string quarterback Brooks Bollinger has had very little time to pass . . .
Marvin Jones will be out this week with a pulled hamstring suffered playing special teams against New Orleans. With Jones out, Kelvin Moses will start in the middle. Moses didn't play that well against the Saints. TE Ernie Conwell got by Moses for a gain of 23 down the middle. TE Boo Williams scored a six-yard touchdown on Moses.
The Jets are mulling over whether to have Victor Hobson take some reps in the middle. He did play some middle linebacker at Michigan, and might be a better long term solution if Jones is out for a while, but the Jets don't want to overload him with too much information. Hobson has been focusing on playing strongside linebacking all spring and summer . . .
Brooks Bollinger has seven fumbles in three games. While the constant pressure has something to do with it, you have to wonder if the size of his hands are a factor . . .
While Dewayne Robertson played better, he clearly needs to work on his pass rush moves.
"He's alright, but he needs to pick up a few more moves," said Saints guard Kendyl Jacox. "He has a nice club and outside move. That is pretty much all I saw. Maybe he is saving it for the regular season, but that is pretty much all I saw outside the bull rush."
Jacox hopes for Robertson's sake, he adds to his repertoire.
"He is quick out of his stance," said Jacox. "That is probably the most positive thing for him. He reads things pretty well. I think he will be a good player." . . .
With Doug Brien essentially a lock to handle the placekicker job, Danny Kight has got to do a better job than he did against New Orleans on his kickoffs if he wants to stick around as a kickoff artist.
"He has to show us he can get it in the end zone," said Edwards . . .
The 17-yard run by Deuce McAllister right up the middle was Jason Ferguson's fault. It looked like he gave up on the play . . .
Rookie safety Derek Pagel is struggling and now he has an injury to deal with. He sprained his right ankle against New Orleans, and likely won't play against the Giants . . .
