The New York Jets began making their first round of cuts and placed wide receiver Devin Smith on PUP

Teams have until 4 pm on Tuesday to trim their rosters down to 75 players, here on the first cuts from the Jets

NFL teams start training camp with a roster of 90 players that eventually have to be cut down to 53 plus the practice squad, but before we get to the 53 we start by trimming the roster down to 75 before the final preseason game. There are no surprises at this point, there rarely are, and there won't likely be any real surprises after me t week either.

The biggest move the Jets made was by finally doing what we all knew they were going to do and that's placing Devin Smith on the PUP list. This means the second-year receiver won't be able to added back to the roster until after week six, but it also means the Jets get to keep an extra one of their rookie receivers for at least the first six weeks of the season.

Teams have until 4 pm on Tuesday to get down to 75 players, but the Jets only have three more players to let loose as they are currently at 78. This post will be updates as those cuts are made, here on the players who didn't make the cut.
