The Jets have signed offensive tackle Michael Thompson and waived wide receiver Cedric James.

Thompson, a 6-4, 295-pound lineman, is entering his fourth NFL season out of Tennessee State University. The native of Savannah, Georgia was a fourth round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2000 and spent the first three seasons of his career with the Falcons before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks on April 10, 2003. Thompson was released by the Seahawks on August 25. James is a 6-1, 197-pound wide receiver who signed with the Jets on August 18, 2003. The former Texas Christian University Horned Frog played on special teams in his lone preseason game with the Jets. The Jets' active roster currently stands at 72 players. The Jets travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles on Thursday, August 28 in their preseason finale.
