EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - JetsInsider.com has learned through several sources that 2nd year QB Bryce Petty will make the first start of his career today when the Jets play the Los Angeles Rams. Petty will start over veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick who has been nursing a sore knee that was suffered last week during the Jets' loss to Miami.
Fitzpatrick's injury was not deemed serious and he practiced all week but Jets Head Coach Todd Bowles indicated that he would not name a starter until today. Its unknown if the decision is purely injury related or Bowles wanted a change from the incredibly inconsistent Fitzpatrick.
Petty was a fourth round pick out of Baylor last year and has only taken four snaps during the regular season. He has though shown promise in the pre-season. He came off the injury list a few weeks ago after hurting his shoulder during the last pre-season game in Philadelphia.
