Jets Waive 10 Players
Adams signed with the Jets as a free agent on January 14, 2003. The 6-0, 206-pound running back was allocated by the Jets to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe in the spring. The former Doane College runner gained 79 yards on 19 carries and caught three passes for 14 yards this preseason for the Jets. Blackwell was among the rookie free agents signed on May 2, 2003. The 5-11, 207-pound quarterback out of the University of South Florida completed 11 of 18 pass attempts for 154 yards with two touchdowns in three games this preseason. Grant, a 5-9, 185-pound cornerback, signed with the Jets as a free agent on July 25, 2003 following playing for the Amsterdam Admirals in NFL Europe last spring. The product of Tennessee Tech University played in xx games for the Jets this preseason, recording six tackles (all solo), one interception which he returned 36 yards for a touchdown, and combined to force a fumble. Husak was signed by the Club on August 25, 2003. The 6-3, 216-pound quarterback from Stanford University completed five of six passes for 25 yards in one game for the Jets this preseason. McGeoghan, a 6-2, 224-pound wide receiver, signed with the Jets as free agent on March 3, 2003. The former University of Maine standout first signed with the Club as a rookie free agent on April 26, 2001, before spending the past two seasons with the Denver Broncos. The native of Springfield, Massachusetts had two receptions for 14 yards for the Jets this preseason. Parent signed with the Jets as a rookie free agent from Boston College on May 2, 2003. The 6-2, 206-pound strong safety recorded five tackles (three solo) and combined to force a fumble in five preseason games, along with turning in three more stops on special teams. Rosado, a 6-1, 172-pound native of Mexico City, Mexico, signed with the Jets as a free agent on July 1, 2003. The wide receiver, a product of the University of the Americas, is a six-year veteran of NFL Europe who played in three games for the Jets this preseason. Simon signed with the Club as a free agent on July 9, 2003 following playing for the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe in the spring of 2003. The 6-3, 283-pound defensive tackle out of Northwestern University recorded four tackles for the Jets this preseason. Smith originally signed with the Club as a rookie free agent from the University of California at Davis on April 26, 2002. The 6-8, 285-pound offensive tackle was on the Jets' 53-man roster for all of the 2002 season, but was inactive for all 16 games. The former college tight end played for NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder last spring and saw action in four of the Jets' preseason games this year. Thompson, a 6-4, 295-pound tackle, signed with the Jets as a free agent on August 27, 2003. The former Tennessee State Tiger saw action in the Club's preseason finale at Philadelphia. The Jets' active roster currently stands at 62 players. The Club must reduce its roster to 53 to open the regular season by Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
