FLORHAM PARK, NJ - After a 5-11 season there is no surprise that a team will make coaching changes. However, with Head Coach Todd Bowles being retained, the rumors that have been flying are that he would begin on the offensive side of the ball with Offensive Coordinator Chan Gailey being in jeopardy. After a report today by ESPN Insider Adam Schefter that may not be so.
Schefter on Twitter today announced that the Jets will be "making wholesale changes to the defensive staff today".
Does that mean that Defensive Coordinator Kacy Rodgers is out?
Rodgers, who is one of Bowles longest and closest friends could get the axe after the Jets finished 26th in scoring down from 9 last season. However, it's more likely there will be some assistant changes. While Rodgers is the DC, Bowles basically runs the defense on game day and likely, Bowles would hand the reins totally to Rodgers and focus on overseeing the entire team instead of concentrating on defense.
