FLORHAM PARK, NJ - As the Jets begin another off-season rebuild, the team will no doubt be looking to get younger. That being said, 33 year old and future Hall of Fame C Nick Mangold may be on his way out. With a $9MM+ cap number next season and a 2016 year of injuries, as painful as it sounds the team could be moving on.
In comes Wesley Johnson. Johnson, a former fifth round pick of the Steelers in 2014 out of Vanderbilt was claimed by the Jets after Pittsburgh cut him in October of 2014. He's been with the team ever since and has developed into a serviceable NFL lineman. He stepped into Mangold's spot and started 8 game for the Jets this year and most importantly showed he can play in this league.
We spoke to Mangold as the team was packing up for the off-season about the development of Johnson.
