Donnie Abraham out at least 4-6 weeks

Jets cornerback Donnie Abraham injured his right shoulder against Miami, and will undergo an MRI on Monday. <p>

The Jets should know the results by Tuesday. It's possible he will need surgery, but it looks like he will be out a minimum of 4-6 weeks. He was injured on the Jay Fiedler's scramble for a touchdown.

Abraham will be replaced by Ray Mickens. The Jets might have some interest in bringing back Andrew Davison, but there is a chance he might sign with Dallas. Another possibility is Troy Grant, the last cornerback cut in training camp. The coaches don't feel Jacoby Shepphard is ready to contribute at cornerback.

Abraham's injury comes at very bad time. The Patriots don't run the ball very well, but have a superb passing attack . . .

Chad Pennington doesn't like the perception that he is going to return to save the season.

"I don't look at it like I'm the savior because I'm not," said Pennington. He might have the pins removed from his hand in two weeks . . .

The Jets had two backup linebackers/special team's standouts, Jason Glenn and Khary Campbell, both suffer sprained ankles against Miami. They are both expected to play against New England. However, Glenn was hobbling bad in the locker room on Monday. The injury to Glenn could pave the way for Victor Hobson to get some reps on defense. Glenn is currently the backup to Mo Lewis, who is struggling, but Hobson is the heir apparent. The way the Jets linebackers are playing, expect Hobson to get into the mix very soon. He's chomping at the bit to get on the field. "Nobody wants to come in and sit on the sideline," said Hobson . . .

In their first two games, the Jets defense has allowed a total of three points in the second half. Ted Cottrell has made some excellent half-time adjustments. The main focus this week is on putting together an entire game of solid defense . . .

Expect to see more of Chris Baker this week. The Jets had some plays designated for him last week, but never get got around to it. The Jets need to get more production from the tight end position, and Baker is coming off a very good camp . . .

Lamont Jordan hurt his ankle against Miami and had an electro-stimluation device on his ankle Monday . . .

The Jets felt that the only running play that gave them trouble in the Dolphins game were draws. The Dolphins felt that the Jets ends like to rush up field, so it makes them prime candidate to run draw on . . .

John Abraham is very angry at himself for biting on the playfake on the bootleg quarterback sneak TD by Fiedler. It was his job to contain the play and he didn't do it. Ted Cottrell warned him about this play right before it happened.

"I would say I'm one of the reasons we lost this game," said Abraham . . .

Cottrell feels Shaun Ellis had his best game as a pro against Miami . . . The Jets think the pass interference call on Jamie Henderson in the fourth quarter was a terrible call. They feel he had perfect coverage on the play, and the call was very late . . .
