Herman Edwards was asked after the game if he is going to stay with Vinny Testaverde at quarterback.
"Vinny is our guy at this point," said Edwards.
Notice he said "at this point". That gives him an out, but he's saying "at this point". Instead of changing offenses, it might be time to put in a quarterback who fits the West Coast system.
So many people suggest that the Jets should play a system that fits Testaverde better. Why would you change a whole system to suit one player? It took the Jets a long time to install the West Coast, and there are too many parts involved to change it at this point . . .
Why are teams able to run on the Jets? Well one Cowboy source put it perfectly - "They are old and slow." Playing Chester McGlockton at defensive end was a poor decision. McGlockton is a very smart player, but he doesn't have the proper speed for tackle, so how he is going to play in space at end. The Cowboys consistently ran right at him . . .
There has been so much talk about how the Jets need to replace Mo Lewis in the starting lineup with Victor Hobson. While that will eventually happen, Lewis actually has played better the last couple of games. The player struggling the most at linebacker is Marvin Jones.
For a middle linebacker to finish with four tackles against a Dallas team that was primarily running is a big problem. But the problem the Jets have is that Kenyatta Wright is their only backup middle linebacker. He is a journeyman who was out of football last year. He might surprise, but on paper, he doesn't seem to be the answer.
The Jets actually have a promising middle linebacker on their practice squad in Mark Brown. He was superb in the preseason before suffering a pulled hamstring. He actually might have the potential to start in the future . . .
While it wasn't reported after the game, Khary Campbell suffered a hamstring pull and was heavily wrapped in the locker room . . .
Jets owner Woody Johnson and Edwards huddled in the coaches office before the Cowboys game. All our sources say everything is fine between the two . . .
Jets general manager Terry Bradway had a heated exchange with Daily News beat reporter Rich Cimini after the game. Cimini reported that Johnson and Edwards could be headed for divorce court . . .
While the Jets running game is still anemic, the Jets have one of the NFL finest pass blocking lines. They have given up just three sacks in four games protecting an immobile quarterback. That is awfully impressive . . .
Jason Glenn's ankle sprain just isn't improving. He is still hobbling around . . .
